Derby lodge bid for Leicester midfielder James

Championship side Derby County have lodged a £3m bid for Leicester City midfielder Matty James, according to Daily Mail.

The report claims that Rams manager Gary Rowett wants to bring in a central midfielder following the departure of Will Hughes to Watford earlier this summer.

The 25-year-old has been with the Foxes since 2012; however, due to injury problems he has made just one league appearance for them over the course of last two seasons.

James, who has one year left on his current deal, spent the second half of the season on loan at Barnsley and picked up 17 starts.
