Derby locked in talks over US investment

Derby County are in talks with US investors.

BBC Radio Derby says chairman Adam Pearson is negotiating with an American sports company and the deal is at a critical stage and will be discussed at a board meeting on Monday.

It is thought it covers the club's estimated £25m debt and leaves boss Paul Jewell with money to spend.

Pearson told BBC Radio Derby: "They are a very good potential partner."

He added: "They have got a great sports experience in the US and know what running a football club is all about.

"We have that local expertise as well and hopefully the two allied together will make a very nice mix for the club going forward.

"We have a board meeting on Monday and I'm sure it will be a big topic."
