Derby County boss Paul Jewell has revealed he's on the verge of signing a second player for their Championship campaign.

"Without giving too much away, we have been working very hard behind the scenes," said Jewell. "The recruitment has started and we are looking at a mixture of players from home and abroad.

"We have done one bit of business already for next season that I think will benefit the team and we have things ongoing at the moment. I am very hopeful of tying up another deal by the end of next week, a permanent signing, which would give us a couple of new players for next season."

Jewell is giving little away about his targets or the positions he is looking to strengthen.

"I have to be careful because I don't want to alert other clubs to the players we are after," he said.
