Derby County boss Paul Jewell has no regrets turning down a return to Wigan Athletic.
Jewell said: "They say you should never go back - I think my missus thinks that's wrong! But it was 100 per cent right for me to turn them down.
"I was very proud we stayed up but I could never have gone back. There was a lot of money involved but I'd taken Wigan as far as I could.
"The players needed some fresh ideas. It needed a new regime. It wouldn't have been right for me or Wigan."
And while Jewell is desperate for Derby to record their first Premier League win since his arrival in November, he admits he would hate to see his former team relegated as well.
He added: "I really would be gutted if both clubs were relegated. I'd also be gutted for Dave Whelan because he's put so much into the club.
"That would be a double whammy for me. You can't work somewhere for six years and not have that affinity.
"It will be Derby Athletic for my family this weekend! I guess they will support Derby because I'm in charge here now.
"My mum loves Wigan but she is desperate for that first win at Derby. She knows what side her bread is buttered now - or she might not get that extension done on the kitchen!
"The pressure is all on Wigan. They will see this as a game they must win.
"We're just playing for pride, there is no fear for us.
"Wigan will be playing with fear - as will Sunderland, Birmingham and Fulham.
"I wish we were but it's not to be."
