Fiorentina patron Diego Della Valle is questioning whether he should carry on with the club.

Della Valle and his family have been the subject of intense abuse from fans this season.

"It's time to reflect on whether it makes sense or not to invest in a football club when groups of violent fans, of 'idiots,' are destroying the most beautiful sport in the world," he told news agency ANSA.

"I spoke to my brother Andrea this evening and told him I don't know if it makes sense to invest in football that is going through such a disastrous situation.

"He thinks with the heart of a supporter, but football can be a wonderful thing, a vehicle for just sentiments that can be transmitted to youth, as long as the rules are respected."
