Jermain Defoe has revealed on his Twitter account that he has signed a new contract with Tottenham, reports BBC Sport. It is thought the striker, who rejoined Spurs from Portsmouth in January 2009, has agreed a three-year deal.

The 29 year old has also been named in Roy Hodgson's England squad for September's World Cup qualifiers.

"Fantastic week - signed my new contract at Spurs and I'm meeting up with England on Monday for two important games," he said on Twitter.
