Jermain Defoe's future at Tottenham is far from certain.

The striker hoped to resurrect his career under the new chief but has had only one start since the Spaniard took over.

Despite causing havoc as a sub in Saturday's 1-0 win over Portsmouth, Defoe may stay on the bench for tonight's Carling Cup trip to Manchester City.
