Watford striker Troy Deeney has not given up on an England call-up ahead of Euro 2016, reports the London Evening Standard.
The Watford captain scored twice as the Hornets beat Crystal Palace 2-1 on Saturday.
"If I can play for England I will be the proudest man in the country," he said. "But my aim is to be playing at a high level week in and week out for Watford. If Mr Hodgson decides to put me in the England team, then I will be happy.
"I do not want to be put in because I scored a burst of goals just before the Euros; I want it to be over the course of the season.
"I think that is nine goals and six assists [in all competitions] now, so I'm not doing too bad. But my life is not going to be ruined by not playing international football."
