Netherlands boss Frank De Boer believes Donny van de Beek can fix his situation at Manchester United.

Van de Beek is a summer signing from Ajax, but he has struggled to earn regular game time at United this season.

The 23-year-old is usually an option off the bench, and has 27 appearances in all competitions this term.

But his national team boss De Boer does not necessarily believe van de Beek needs to leave United.

He told Voetbal International: "His situation is more difficult. He is in the early stages of his career.

"I wouldn't immediately throw the towel in either. He still wants to show himself.

"I think it is a logical step that he wants to fight in the team.

"Let's hope that will happen. I have not had any doubts yet."
