Ivan Guerrero was called into Honduras squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers but due to DC United's insistence that Guerrero play in Wednesday's US Open Cup final match, he has now been withdrawn from the squad.

Honduras plays Canada in Montreal Saturday September 6th, and Guerrero would not have been able to leave United and join the national team until Thursday September 4th, two days before the match.

MLS is one of the only leagues in the world which plays matches right through international breaks, so Guerrero's withdrawal from the Honduras squad allows him to play for DC United in its September 6th league game against San Jose.
