DC United sign Derby County youngster Conor Doyle

D.C. United today announced that the club has picked up former U.S. youth international Conor Doyle in a permanent transfer from Derby County.

After one semester at Creighton University, Doyle signed his first professional contract with Derby County (English Championship) after a trial period with the club in 2010. After making 14 appearances with the first team in the 2010-2011 season, Doyle suffered both ankle and hamstring injuries, limiting him to six fixtures that year. In the 2012-2013 season, the young forward dealt with appendicitis and only saw one start and one substitute appearance.

"Conor is a very talented, young forward that will continue to improve," said D.C. United Scouting Coordinator Kurt Morsink. "His ability to get in good spots and anticipate service is very rare for his age, and makes him a unique forward."
