DC United president Kevin Payne has revealed their search for a new head coach has begun.

Payne has confirmed seven candidates have already been interviewed.

"We've spoken to some really interesting people from a wide range of backgrounds," he told the Washington Post.

"We are going to talk further with a couple of people and then spend a concentrated time discussing who fits the vision we have.

"Realistically, between those conversations, our internal discussions and putting together an offer, we're hoping [to have a new coach in place] a month from now."
