Dutch club Feyenoord are showing significant interest in DC United's Steve Birnbaum.

According to Dutch journalist Merijn Slagter, via a Twitter post, the Rotterdam outfit are eyeing a potential summer move for the 25-year-old defender.

It is understood that Feyenoord are 'very interested' in Birnbaum who has been selected in Jurgen Klinsmann's 23-man USA squad for Copa America 2016.

The California native has previously been linked with German giants Borussia Dortmund while clubs elsewhere in Germany and others in Belgium have also reportedly showed interest.
