DC United announces South East Asia tour

Official release from DC United

D.C. United, in conjunction with Mahaka Sports and Entertainment, today announced its plans for a post-season tour in Southeast Asia, with the club in Indonesia from Dec. 3 through Dec. 9.

While there, the Black-and-Red will participate in two friendlies - one against Persib Bandung (Indonesia Super League) on Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. local time and one against Arema FC (Indonesia Super League) on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. local time. Both friendly matches will be televised on SCTV, the largest free-to-air TV station in Indonesia. In addition to the friendlies, the team will participate in youth clinics bringing together community leaders and youth soccer fans.

"We are proud to partner with Mahaka Sports and Entertainment to compete against two successful Indonesian clubs," said D.C. United Chief Operating Officer Michael Williamson. "These matches will provide global exposure for our club and league in a market where soccer is ingrained in the daily lifestyle of the region."

Mahaka Sports and Entertainment has previously coordinated international tours for fellow MLS side LA Galaxy, as well as Barclay's Premier League club Liverpool. Established in 2002, the company has taken a significant role in almost every major sports and entertainment event that has happened in Indonesia.
