Davis: Portsmouth contract delays affecting form

Sean Davis says delays over new contract talks are affecting Portsmouth's form.

Captain Sol Campbell is also among the 12 Pompey players whose contracts are up at the of the season.

And Davis says the uncertainty has been a factor in Pompey's freefall down the Premier League.

He said: "As a team there are a lot of players out of contract and that might have affected performances. I've not had anything said to me since a £3million bid from Bolton for me was turned down last month.

"It was strange as the club have tried to get rid of me before and I'm in the final three months of my contract. I'm back to square one and will have to wait until the summer. Portsmouth have talked about giving me a new contract for 15 months and nothing has been sorted. I'm upset I've not signed.

"The club said they would phone my agent and we didn't hear back until Tony Adams took charge. Tony said he wanted to offer me a new contract but that is yet to be finalised. We were close to reaching an agreement but the club started messing about.

"I thought the club would call my agent after the Bolton bid. I'm happy to stay at Portsmouth for the rest of my career."
