Davis hails Southampton players for shock Chelsea win

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis heaped praise on teammates after their victory at Chelsea.

Davis grabbed his first goal in 602 days to level the scores after Willian's opener, before Sadio Mané and Graziano Pellè found the back of the net in the second half to seal a memorable win.

“I thought I'd save the goal for a good occasion," Davis joked when talking to youtube.com/southamptonfc. “It has been a frustrating time, but I had a good chance early on and snatched at it.

“I was disappointed with that. It was a great lay-off from Graziano [Pellè] and it was nice to see it hit the back of the net. Hopefully it's the start of a few more to come.

“I think getting the goal before half time meant the belief started to come back into us. We showed in the second half that we fully deserved the win and caused them a number of problems.

“It took us a little bit of time to find out feet in the game but it's important we start to show the consistency that we did last season.

“It was nice to follow up the Swansea win with a big result here against Chelsea."
