Former Sunderland boss David Moyes is being linked with a return to Preston North End.

The ex-Manchester United and Everton manager is a free agent after leaving relegated Sunderland.

The Daily Mail says Championship side Preston are aware that Simon Grayson is on the shortlist at the Black Cats and have already considered contingency plans should he leave.

They include the prospect of a bold approach for 54-year-old Moyes, who may be open to trying to resurrect his career on familiar territory.

Moyes managed Preston between 1998 and 2002 and still lives in the area.
