Scott Dann is delighted he joins Blackburn Rovers with Christopher Samba staying.
Dann - who was also linked with a possible move to Arsenal - can expect to be busy in Rovers' backline.
But he believes the Lancashire club's retention of Samba, 27, who was another target for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, could help them keep their heads above water.
He said: "Chris Samba is a great defender and he's been brilliant for the club. I'm looking forward to playing alongside him.
"It's good that he's stayed here and no one signed him in the end."
