Gonzalo Rodriguez enjoyed one of his finest performances in a Villarreal shirt in Wednesday's 0-0 draw at Champions League rivals Manchester United.

After three consecutive knee injuries, it was a personal triumph for the Argentina international - whose Dad, Jose, was at Old Trafford to see him play.

Jose said: "He was very good, has played a great game, but the whole team was remarkable.

"I don't know if I can say he has played a better game, not very recently - or three years ago.

"Yes, you can tell that I'm proud of him."
