Daal earns new Nth Qld contract

Dyron Daal has earned a new contract with the North Queensland Fury.

The Netherlands Antilles striker is believed to have agreed to a fresh deal that will see him remain in Townsville until the end of the 2010/11 season.

The news comes just days after he scored a double in the Fury's 3-2 loss to the Newcastle Jets and an official announcement is expected in the coming days.

Daal joined the Fury in August on a short-term injury replacement deal and then signed a another short-term deal when his initial six-week stint expired in September.

Despite the fact the club has not confirmed the signing, the 26-year old was hopeful about staying with the Fury.

"It's not a big secret that I am enjoying myself here and I think that you can see that in the way that I am playing as well, that I'm settled in, I'm having good fun,'' he said.

"I feel appreciated ... I'm having a good time here.''

Fury coach Ian Ferguson was more than complimentary when asked about Daal's progress and recent performances for the fledgling A-League club.

"He never had a pre-season (and) he was getting 20 and 30 minutes (off the bench) and I felt as though it was a risk, but the boy's come on and proved me wrong,'' Ferguson said.

"He's done fantastic ... he's scored two goals - what more can you ask for?

"He's got a lot to offer and we knew he had a lot to offer ... if he's fit he'll play, there's no doubt about that."
