Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has offered his support to Newcastle defender Florian Lejeune after his knee injury setback.

Townsend has wished Lejeune a speedy recovery after their clash during Palace's win left the defender with a bad knee injury.

"I was on the floor as well, he came from behind and tackled me and he hurt his knee," Townsend told the Evening Chronicle of the Lejeune incident.

"I think he's just come back from a knee injury so my heart goes out to him; it looks quite serious, and hopefully he makes a speedy recovery and gets back to playing football ASAP.

"Whether it's a team-mate or someone on the opposition, no-one likes to see things like that."
