Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi full of pride over Charlton loan

Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was proud of his loan last season at Charlton Athletic.

The 20-year-old winger scored 15 goals and provided nine assists in 49 appearances and was nominated for EFL Young Player of the Season.

Rak-Sakyi told Palace's website: “It was really good last year. I had a lot of support from my family, my friends and my coaches, so I'm very grateful for that.

“From the start, it was quite hard for me to adapt to men's football. I think I got into the groove. I was doing extras with my coaches and spending more time analysing my game, and I think that really benefitted me on the pitch.

“Looking at having a fixed programme, doing extra gym work and learning different ways to use my body against physical and older players really benefitted me.

“It's a big responsibility. Coming from a Premier League club, there's a lot of expectation for you to perform week-in, week-out, for the fans, so I think that was one of the hardest things: just to be consistent every game.

“It was very good [to be nominated for the EFL Young Player of the Season award] because I put a lot of work in last season… it means that I'd done really well and I'm just happy that I was able to help the team as much as I could."
