Crystal Palace set to expand Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace are set to expand Selhurst Park.

The Sun says Palace are set to announce plans to redevelop Selhurst Park to a 40,000-capacity ground.

The Premier League club have seen themselves left behind their rivals having been restricted in their matchday revenue potential by their current 26,000 stadium.

Palace have even looked at the possibility of building a new stadium elsewhere in the area - but now seem close to deciding staying at their home of 93 years is the right decision.

The club and Croydon Council have been locked in discussions over the past year over the feasibility of expanding Selhurst Park.

Chairman Steve Parish has promised the club's supporters some exciting news will be delivered before Christmas.

He said: “This side of Christmas there will be a major announcement.

“We have been working very hard for a long time to try and get the right idea and we think we have now got it.

"When I came into this thing, the aim was to bring something for all of us to be proud of on the pitch and very importantly off the pitch.

“We want to give everybody in Croydon and South London a stadium that we can all be proud of and not lose our atmosphere and uniqueness."
