Crystal Palace News: Hodgson denies 'turning point'; Williams happy after surgery

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is not getting carried away despite dramatic victory over Stoke City.

Palace managed a vital 2-1 victory over Stoke with a last minute winner through Mamadou Sakho.

Hodgson said: "I don't believe in turning points. It was another step along the way and another confirmation that what we have done in the last five games to get us five points is capable of getting us three points as well.

"Especially if that luck which has really been deserting us in those previous five games starts to show its face again. But it could be [a big moment]. I don't dispute that. I just think that at the moment there is not a lot of point in looking ahead to the end of the season. Let's look ahead to Tuesday, then let's look ahead to Saturday.

"Let's keep going one game at a time, keep getting as many points as we can along the way. Sometimes even one point can be very valuable. You might look back at the end of the season at a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham but remember how well you played, and think that was the turning point for us to realise we are actually quite a good team and can play the very best on their patch and still do well."

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams has revealed that his shoulder surgery has been completed successfully.

On-loan Sunderland attacker Williams suffered a shoulder injury during the Black Cats' Championship encounter against Millwall recently and the Crystal Palace man has now gone on to reveal that he has successfully undergone surgery to fix the problem.

However, Williams admits that the injury is a hard one for him to take.

Posting on Instagram, he said: "Op went well. Thank you for all of the caring messages and support, it means a lot.

"Had a few tough setbacks that I have had to come back from already and this is probably the hardest to take. On the mend now and looking forward to getting back doing what I love asap."
