Crystal Palace midfielder Milivojevic: It was a penalty

Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic felt they deserved a penalty in their 0-0 draw at Watford.

Wilfried Zaha went down after a second half challenge by Adrian Mariappa but any penalty appeals were waved away and referee Chris Kavanagh showed the Eagles winger a yellow card instead.

Milivojevic said: “From my point of view that was a penalty but the referee is the main guy and he is responsible for decisions and he decided not to give it and we have to respect that.

“We had a big discussion at half time to be honest as we knew they had been much better than us in the first half but we didn't want to change our style of football but only our performance and worked on our game plan and had a much better second half.“

The midfielder added: “When you look at the game over 90 minutes it is a good point. The first half they should score a few goals because they started much better than us in the match but the second half we changed things, had three or four very good chances and should have scored. In the end both teams deserved the point."
