Crystal Palace defender Andersen: It was an exciting summer market

Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen concedes he's unsure of his next career step.

This summer he was linked with Newcastle and Brentford - but ultimately remained at Selhurst Park.

"It is clear that there are always some considerations during the transfer window. It's an exciting time, and there was a bit of back and forth, but nothing concrete," the centre-back told bold.dk.

"So I'm really just happy to be at Palace. We have a great team there, and I have a big role, so I'm looking forward to a good season."

The 27-year-old admits he's unsure when it will be time for the next step in his career.

"I think it's a super difficult question, because it's not something I have control over. It is clear that I would like to play in the biggest and best clubs in the world, but it is not always up to me what happens.

"I'm 27 years old now and if I'm going to make a transfer, it should preferably be within the next few years, because I'm not getting any younger. If a club is going to pay some money for me, they should ideally be able to see some perspective in it."
