Crystal Palace boss Pardew: You have to listen to the players

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is facing down a players' revolt.

Pardew could be facing the end of his reign at Selhurst Park today if his side suffer defeat against Southampton after six successive losses.

He admitted: "We've done a couple of things the players wanted to do. You have to listen to your group. They wanted to go over set-plays and see situations with the whole team defending.

"That was right. I'm talking senior players here. You'd be stupid not to have discussions between everybody. We'll listen to everyone's opinion.

"We have been a bit tense at some of the set-plays we have done this week, as you would imagine.

"Some of the conversations I had were calm, but assertive. Some situations at training have been tense and aggressive. The end result of that is our performance.

"Of course there were things said in the meeting I had not thought about. I can't understand everything. I am a football manager, I can sense situations. If you are a player on the pitch you can feel a game differently. And if you don't understand that, then you shouldn't be a football manager."
