Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer accepts he could lose his job before Christmas.
De Boer is resigned to the prospect that even a record four Dutch titles in a row as a coach – plus a Champions League win with Ajax and a La Liga winner's medal at Barcelona as a player – won't be enough to keep him in a job if Palace struggle early next season.
The new boss admitted: “I can say it now that after six months they can shake your hand and say goodbye. That's football. That's the way it is."
Palace chairman Steve Parish also chimed in: “If Frank fails, it is my failure too. The pressure is to get it right."
