Peter Crouch is prepared to wind down his contract at Liverpool.

The Daily Mail says Crouch has put Liverpool on the spot by telling manager Rafael Benitez he is happy to see out the remaining year of his contract.

It means Liverpool must lower their £15m asking price so he can move clubs now, or risk seeing him leave Anfield for nothing next summer.

Crouch is prepared to sit tight, even though he has little chance of playing regularly. Portsmouth would be favourites to sign him, with Newcastle and Manchester City in contention.
