Croatia star Modric: I'd trade Champions League medals for World Cup

Croatia captain Luka Modric says he would trade all his Champions League trophies for a World Cup win.

The midfielder has won four Champions League medals with Real Madrid but says this success with his national team is incomparable with that.

"I would trade all four [Champions League] titles for this one," he explained.

"No matter what happens in the final, this is the greatest success story in Croatian sport, but we all have the desire to be the champions. We are full of confidence, we have character and we have everything a team needs to be world champions."

Croatia are surprising finalists on the world's biggest football stage, having topped the group with Argentina, beaten Denmark and hosts Russia on penalties and finally – overcoming England in semi-final after extra time.
