Former Lyon defender Cris is disappointed Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema isn't in the France team.

Benzema has been snubbed by France coach Didier Deschamps since before the 2016 Euros after becoming embroiled in an alleged blackmail case.

Cris, however, insists his former teammate should be playing for the World Cup winners.

"I'm surprised he's not in France's team. We are not going to talk about that yet, but a player like Benzema, who won everything in Madrid, who has been playing for years, and who does not play in the national team, is a shame," said Cris.

"It's a shame to have a huge talent like Karim and not to play."
