Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has hinted at major personnel changes in 2012.
Bolton chairman Phil Gartside spoke this week of the need for a long-term overhaul at the Reebok Stadium and his manager is in agreement.
"In terms of our club, of course every year we have to make sure we have a better, and an even younger, team," said Coyle. "But, as I have said before, players have to earn their contracts, they are not given out on a whim, particularly when you look at the world financial situation, and football in particular.
"And the only way you earn them is by playing well. That's a huge incentive for everybody.
"If you don't have that mental capacity, that mental strength to deal with it, then that's up to you."
