Simon Cox is happy he chose to stay with West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies striker was attracting interest for his services from a number of Championship clubs around the time of Roy Hodgson's arrival at The Hawthorns in February.
But, despite being given the option to go and get regular first-team football under his belt, Cox was determined to stay at The Hawthorns and prove himself to the new head coach.
"The gaffer told me there had been a few clubs expressing an interest in taking me on loan and asked me what I thought," Cox told the WBA website.
"Because of the way my season had gone, being on the bench most weeks and coming on a couple of times a month, I fancied just getting as many Premier League minutes as I can.
"I felt that would only set me in good stead for next season.
"I didn't want to go and, with a change of head coach, if I'd gone it would have given other people more chance to impress him and not me.
"I fancied just staying, working hard and trying to impress him in training.
"It's paid dividends for me really, especially with the unfortunate injury to Mozza. You never want players to get injured, especially at vital times of the season.
"It gave me an opportunity to play and the gaffer believed what I was doing in training was good enough to warrant a starting place."
