Don Cowie has hailed the leadership of Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker.

Caulker proved the matchwinner for Cardiff against Swansea City on Sunday.

"Steven's still young, but he's very vocal in the right way. Everyone at the club respects him," Cowie told the Western Mail.

"He's not the kind of guy to stand in the dressing room shouting and bawling at everyone, but what he says is always the right thing. For me, he is the right choice to be skipper of this side.

"First and foremost Steven has proved just a terrific signing for this club.

"A lot of people were surprised that we actually got him. He has shown so far what a terrific player he is and we are just delighted to have him in our team. It was a brilliant header for the goal and I'm sure he's delighted to have got the winner."
