Coutinho wants Liverpool stay as agent denies Real Madrid contact

Philippe Coutinho's agent has denied claims he is talking to Real Madrid.

The Liverpool playmaker has been heavily linked with the Spanish giants this week but his representative Kia Joorabchian has moved quickly to rubbish speculation that he was in talks over a potential transfer.

"Philippe is extremely happy at Liverpool. He signed a new long term contract towards the end of last season that represents his ambition and his feeling for Liverpool," said Joorabchian.

"Reports that I have been talking to Real Madrid about Philippe are not true.

"His aspirations are to qualify for the Champions League with Liverpool this season and to win a trophy. That is all that he is focussed on – and nothing else."

The 23-year-old Brazil international, who arrived at Anfield from Inter Milan in 2013, has also attracted interest from Barcelona in recent times but it appears as though he is set to remain on Merseyside for the foreseeable future.
