County slap £2m price tag on keeper Schmeichel

Notts County are expecting £2million for stopper Kasper Schmeichel following interest from two Premier League clubs. The highly-rated goalkeeper, who has kept 17 clean sheets in 33 league games this season will be sold in the summer as the League Two club cannot afford his wages.

"I'd like to get £2million for Kasper. I think he is worth that," said Notts owner Ray Trew, who revealed the club still owe Manchester City the £500,000 that former owners Munto Finance agreed to pay for the 23-year-old in August 2009.

"Tottenham bid £2million to Watford for Scott Loach during the transfer window. I know Scott because he was a youth player at Lincoln when I was there.

"Scott has come a long way and has done very well at Watford. If he is worth £2million, then Kasper is easily worth it too. He is up there with Scott, if not better than him."

Trew added: "There are two Premier League clubs that are interested but I am not prepared to name them. They have not made an official approach to us yet. There is another Premier League club we are hoping to bring into the mix too."
