Boss Steve Cotterill insists ChampionshipNottingham Forest must learn how to win ugly if they are to accumulate the points. The Reds lost a dour, hard-fought game against Cardiff 1-0 in the Welsh capital on Saturday.
Cotterill said: "Our performance was always going to be different to the one against Ipswich the previous week. There was a lot more passing in that game.
"There will be times when we play teams who let us play and they will be really good football games. But there will be other games that will be tough and scrappy - games that can be decided by set-plays.
"Those are the games we need to learn to be better in. We have to be better in the horrible games. We have to learn how to win those matches."
