New York Cosmos ambassador Shep Messing feels that recently appointed coach Jurgen Klinsmann can take the United States to a new level. Messing, who played in goal for the States in the 1972 Olympics, is hoping the former Germany and Bayern Munich boss can bring some "magic" to the side.
"I am cautiously optimistic about Klinsmann," he told Sportinglife.com.
"It was time for a change in American soccer. I look at the German national team and how that programme's been revamped. If Klinsmann did it then I welcome him with open arms.
"He's going to find it a different challenge in the United States but I think he's got everybody supporting him.
"Let's hope we get the magic of Klinsmann with the German national team not the Bayern Munich ordeal."
Messing is also happy to agree with Eric Cantona who predicted the United States will win the World Cup in the next 20 years.
"I would definitely agree with Eric," he added.
"I think with the talent pool, the numbers, the players in the United States we definitely have the ability to win the World Cup.
"Twenty years is plenty of time to develop, to cultivate and build a national team that can win the World Cup."
