Steve Coppell is in the frame to take the Portsmouth job.
The Daily Mail says Coppell is poised to make a surprise return to management at Portsmouth.
The 56-year-old watched Pompey's goalless draw against Crystal Palace on Tuesday and held talks with Portsmouth officials on Wednesday night.
Coppell looked to have turned his back on the game 15 months ago after leaving Bristol City.
