FC Copenhagen's coach and captain were furious with Alejandro Garnacho after their Champions League defeat at Manchester United.
United pulled off the 1-0 win thanks to Andre Onana's 97th minute save to deny Jordan Larsson from the penalty spot.
But not before Garnacho was seen scuffing up the spot amid FCK protests.
"It is up to referees and associations to set limits," coach Jacob Neestrup told VG. "All you have to do is give a red card for something like that, then people stop doing it."
In a similar vein, captain Viktor Claesson said: "It's unsportsmanlike. It's not something I stand for or would do, but if he's done it, he's done it. I don't think that was what decided whether he missed or scored."
