Carle started 17 games for the Robins last season and Warnock believes the 26-year-old's technical and physical attributes would be crucial additions to the team.

"There are two midfielders we've spoken to and really want but we only need one," Warnock told the South London Press. "Carle is the type we're looking for. Both him and our other target have not only got bags of ability but also enthusiasm and legs - they go all over the pitch.

"They would help bring a little more dimension to us attacking wise."
