"I'd love to stay playing in English football. I haven't had an answer from the club about renewing my contract. I'm happy but I want to know where I'll be playing."
Sun, who joined City six years ago from China's Dalian Shide, added that he had been contacted by several English teams.
However, City remain Sun's first choice despite being limited to just seven appearances this season.
"I've had offers," he said. "I'm getting old but I'm still fit enough to play in the Premier League. I've already proved to people that I can still play.
"With injuries and suspension, no one can expect to play every game."
