Buffon wants the two clubs to begin a new history of "on-field" rivalry, explaining: "Over these two years so many things have happened, so much water has passed under the bridge, but if we want to grow the spirit of sport around the world of football, we must move away from the ghosts of the past.

"All the talk of rivalry between the two teams must stay off the field. Certainly, fans of Juve feel particularly strongly about the game, as well as those of Inter and, in management, this also spills over.

"But for us players what counts is to win, not to give anymore or any less than what we have given in all other games. Inter is a battleship and has no weaknesses."
