Ferguson told The Sun: "Who knows, if we can get through to the Champions League maybe that will free up more cash for him.

"It'd be great if he was able to buy another couple of players. Don't get me wrong. I feel the squad we have at the moment is great.

"But if we get through to the group stages I'm sure he'd love to add another few names to the squad."
