Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has no doubts Fabrice Muamba has the attitude to take him to the top of the game.

"He was disappointed with his performance against Spurs. He came to me and said he could have done better at certain times," said Eck.

"With the ball, I think that's a part of his game that he can improve on.

"But the other things he does, he more than makes up for it - breaking up the opposition play, not allowing them to get any momentum - these are all vital for us."

McLeish added: "While he is dedicated to working on the fine arts of the game and doing extra then it's got to help and it's something I really think not enough players do. Muamba deserves credit for that."
