Bruce admits takeover stalling Birmingham player contracts

Steve Bruce wants Carson Yeung to speed up his bid to buy Birmingham so he can sort out the future of some of his out of contract players.

Maik Taylor and Mehdi Nafti have re-established themselves in the first team this season but they are both out of contract next summer.

Bruce is still waiting to hear whether Hong Kong businessman Yeung has approved his own new deal which he was promised for taking City back into the Premier League at the first attempt.

But he is also concerned he cannot make any plans regarding Nafti and Taylor - plus any possible January targets - until Yeung completes the takeover after buying an initial 29.9% in the Midlands club.

Bruce said: "Maik Taylor's contract is up next summer and so is the contract of Mehdi Nafti. There are decisions to be made.

"That is one of the reasons we need to get the takeover sorted out and, if it is not going to be, then it is not going to be.

"Players just get on with things but, if you are running out of contract, you want to know where you stand.

"For the club's sake, we need to sort it out."
