Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is happy with the way new left-back David Murphy has settled at St Andrews.

"He's settled in great," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail. "His home debut against Derby was successful, a good opening for him to endear himself to the fans.

"At Saturday's game against West Ham, I felt Freddie Ljungberg was going to be a big test for him.

"Ljungberg is so quick off the mark that in the first 10 minutes it looked as if he was in for a hard time.

"But he stuck to his task and showed his ruggedness and resilience and a little bit of tenacity getting close to the wide men.

"In the end, I felt he came through it with flying colours and passed the test."
