Conte warns Chelsea youngsters they must earn a first team berth

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says the club's academy is "working very well", but says the younger players only get minutes if they have earned them.

He singles out striker Tammy Abraham for praise. The 19-year-old has scored 11 goals in 17 appearances on loan at Bristol City.

"[Tammy Abraham] is the future for Chelsea, for sure," he said.

"He is very young, I saw him for one week only in pre-season then we decided to send him to play every game and to do experience and then to come back with us.

"In my squad we have [Nathaniel] Chalobah, [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek, [Dominic] Solanke and this is fantastic because you can see the future.

"I think it is fantastic they are in the squad, and if they deserve to play, they play. I do not play them as a gift, if I play them it is because they deserve it."
