It has not been an easy time for new Chelsea signing Tiemoue Bakayoko. The French midfielder joined after a great season at Monaco, yet has not set the world alight in London so far.
However, Bakayoko showed some impressive form in Chelsea's 3-1 win against Huddersfield. The athletic midfielder showed his box-to-box qualities, by not only curbing Huddersfield attacks, but also by scoring a great goal to give his side the crucial momentum in the game.
His manager Antonio Conte was very pleased with Bakayoko's performance.
"Bakayoko played a really good game. I am very happy for him. We are talking about a player who is 23 years old. He is adapting himself to our idea of football," he said in a press conference.
"Tonight I saw the best performance from Baka. I started to see what I ask, what I want: to find the right pass between the lines, to change sides, and to be solid and focused for the whole game."
Conte reiterated that he has no fears about Bakayoko's ability, or his adaptability to the way Chelsea play football. Some fans are concerned he is not the right fit for the team, but Conte is a patient man, and he knows Bakayoko will deliver more performances like this one.
"I am very pleased for him, and this type of performance will improve his confidence. I repeat: I am not worried about Baka. He is a young player, and now he is starting to understand he is in a club like Chelsea, a great club. I am very happy because he showed me he has the right desire and will to improve himself and try to be better," he said.
"If I didn't trust him, he doesn't start tonight in an important game after a defeat and a lot of problems. To start with him shows I trust him."
Bakayoko will be hoping to continue this great form as Chelsea face Southampton at the weekend, and then have a League Cup clash against Bournemouth.
