CONFIRMED: Lamine Yamal pens new contract with Barcelona

Lamine Yamal has signed a new deal with Barcelona.

The 16 year-old has penned a new contract to 2026, which carries a buyout clause of €1bn. His previous deal was due to end in June.

Barca announced today: "FC Barcelona and player Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement to renew their contract, which will link him to the Club until June 30, 2026, thus completing his youth stage.

"The termination clause will be 1,000 million euros. The Barça striker signed his new contract this Monday morning at the offices of the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper, in an act with the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta; the first vice president, Rafa Yuste; the director responsible for Training Soccer, Joan Soler; and the Club's sports director, Anderson Luis de Souza 'Deco'."

It's suggested an option is included which will see the deal extended to 2030 when Yamal turns 18.

It's also been decided there will be no formal public signing ceremony for the teen.
